...maybe it’s the dust in the air of the living room after a big fight. Or maybe we’re just tired of each other’s faces, of being awake while the other is asleep. I don’t know.  

What I do know is this: This morning, when I stepped outside, I saw a man peeing on a parked car in our quiet, simple little street. We made eye contact, the man and I, but he kept peeing as I watched. I looked away and I walked on, but somehow I was  jealous.

The collaboration between Marthe Koning and Gerben Vaillant stems from a shared fascination with each other’s work. Marthe’s voice is at the core of her practice—a pure, direct, and fearless source of communication that exposes the tension between emotion and intellect, often giving her work a ritualistic quality. Gerben creates atmospheric worlds with cinematic power, blending dark poetry that keeps audiences on edge. His work spans language, dance, imagery, philosophy, and trash. Together, Marthe en Gerben explore what emerges when they follow their twisted fascinations.
