Dancing for Peace 2 Bijou

February 7th 19:40-20:05 February 7th 21:25-21:50 FRAS 2

Dancing for Peace 2 Bijou, is a Fantastical spectacle of deep and sweet nightmares, through the game of art we will explore myths to understand history and Romanticize the demonized bodies.

With a game of Art, inspired by the Igbo-architectural form of Mbari making, we will dream ourselves through  hardcore inner travels: in this Bijou version we will visit the worlds of Beauty and Rebelliousness, in an attempt to see what it means to be Dancing for Peace.

Fantastical Buffon:
The method holds a diverse range of artistic tools and practices, including Drag, Waacking, Afrikanesque Vouodou movement techniques, Butoh, and ancestral movement gifts. Which I gratefully use to disrupt the corrupted methods of Buffon, Commedia dell'arte, Clown, and Ballet, which have historically perpetuated fetishized and demonized the “othered” bodies of western performative art.

By using Afro-fabulative skills and Queer Fantasy, I allow the creation of alternate universes, challenging the demonization and fetishization of marginalized bodies and narratives within Western art. For me, this journey is about confronting the mess and pain of the past and finding a way to move forward authentically through the logics of art. Further informed by Talawa Technique. Inspired by Igbo Goddess Ala. In honor of the dead, with kisses to Queen of Athens Petros Kazantzidis 09.01.2025.
