Bai Li’s "HOME - 家" unfolds as a captivating autobiographical film and dance solo, tracing her extraordinary journey as a Chinese adoptee. In this intimate exploration, Bai Li courageously opens her archives to share the vulnerable beginnings of her life. Sharing a narrative that echoes the quest for a true sense of belonging. With her distinctive movement language, Bai Li skillfully zooms in on the diverse stages and emotions surrounding her adoption. From the innocence of initial discovery to the frustration of identity clashes, culminating in a beautiful harmony that transcends boundaries.

"HOME - 家" isn't just Bai Li's story; it's serves as an ode to the countless others who navigate the complex terrain of adoption and dual identities. This compelling solo performance gives voice to those without a fixed feeling of home, offering solace and understanding to anyone who has ever felt caught between worlds. Redefining the very notion of home, "HOME - 家" beckons viewers to witness a thought-provoking exploration of self-discovery and acceptance. Through Bai Li's storytelling, the performance invites audiences to reconsider their own understanding of belonging and finding one's place in the world.

Bai Li was born in Hefei, China (1998) and adopted to the Netherlands after living in an orphanage for a little over a year. While in the orphanage her caretaker discovered her love for dance and so after moving to the Netherlands, her parents signed her up for ballet classes. She was accepted to the pre-education of Fontys Dance Academy and later received her Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Urban. She has worked nationally and internationally with choreographers and directors such as Akiko Kitamura, Ivo van Hove, Vincent Mantsoe, Wim Vandekeybus and more. As a maker; Bai Li is looking for ways to bridge her Chinese heritage with her Dutch upbringing.
