A philosophical horror about looking at our mortality. Picture yourself with other spectators, all eyes fixed on a lifeless body at the center, chained to a steel link. This motionless form slowly springs to life, gurgling and stumbling towards you. Steel yourself against this zombie's persistent longing for life, compelling you to reconsider what life and death truly mean.
What does this zombie reveal about ourselves, what questions do those empty eyes raise?
Werkplaats (Workshop) van de Woestijne forges life questions into thought experiences. A thought experience is an experience that invites you to look for your own answer to a big, impossible question. Themes like mortality, solitude, or identity are not only brought to life but are also fundamentally explored within the experience. Van de Woestijne peels away political topics to reveal their existential essence. According to him, we need to engage in deeper self-reflection in order to change.
In essence the work is theatrical, yet it springs from the fabric of daily existence. Past performances have unfolded in settings like a courtroom, a gym, or amidst the city center.
